I always find it interesting to hear a song covered by a group that is so different from the original artist, and see how it comes out. (Please note that I hate it when an artist picks out a song similar to what they sing and insist they can do it better, like Jessica Simpson trying to sing "These Boots Were Made For Walking"). For the rest, sometimes it turns out good (Fountains of Wayne's version of Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time"), sometimes it's bad (Disturbed's version of Genesis' "Land of Confusion"), and sometimes the version seems to be done for no reason whatsoever (AFI's version of Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like A Hole"). Still, it's interesting nonetheless, even if I want to take a tazer to the band after the first listen.
But, to throw one more on the Good pile, I came across a version of Outkast's "Hey Ya" by Obadiah Parker on YouTube. Definately worth a watch/listen.
Obadiah Parker – Hey Ya
Anyone got some other recommendations for the Good pile?
