So begins the 12th season of The Amazing Race.  After having to put up with last season's rehash “all-stars” format (having only one team that actually won the race previously, one team that wasn't even a team previously, and all of the most annoying teams from the previous seasons), we finally get some fresh blood.

As I told my sister before the episode started, the first few episodes are less about finding a team to root for, but finding the teams you want to get eliminated early.

Very quickly, I found myself hoping the following teams would fail:

  • Ari & Staella – “Best Friends” – Who just came across as jerks from minute one.
  • Kate & Pat – “Married Ministers” – Who seem like the token “gay couple” for the show, but don't seem to have a chance to make it past the first few checkpoints.
  • Kynt & Vyxsin – “Dating Goths” – Who seem to have confused goth for the 80's new wave look, and are just too “out there” for me.

Fortunately, we didn't have to deal with Ari & Staella for long, as they got passed up by teams while they verbally abused their donkey assistant in Ireland.

So one down, nine to go (two in particular)!

In a game that was closer than I expected, I was very relieved to see the Pats walk away with the win.  It really looked like the cards were stacked against them, with the Colts playing well defensively at home and the refs making a number of questionable calls and no-calls (the major one being the long pass interference call that gave the Colts their second touchdown of the game).  In the end, the Pats were able to overcome all them.

But I came away very impressed with Joseph Addai.  If it weren't for his ball skills, the Colts wouldn't have even been in the game.  He could be good in the Marshall Faulk role for a number of years for the Colts.  Hopefully Belichick will be a little more prepared for his role next time around.

Well, after several months of just having the time to make the changes to my homebrew blogging solution, I've decided to make the move to Ray Camden's BlogCFC.  Part of this was because I wanted to have more time to work on other projects, and part of it was to make writing to my blogs easier on myself.  So, I've made the move with both this blog and my one over at IfJesusHadAWebsite.net

I'm sure I'll be making a number of tweaks to the look and functionality of the site.  I've already made a few changes to have both blogs run on the same instance under different URLs, maintain separate pods (or the blocks over on the right), and work smoothly with Gmail for Domains available through Google Apps (thank you CF8 and useTLS).  Oh, and while the old URL's won't work any more for posts and such, they will dump you out on the main page.  However, the feedburner feeds have been updated, so you won't miss anything if you've subscribed.

Hopefully, this will be a relatively smooth transition though.
