After finishing my first marathon in Charlotte last year, I’ve had it in my mind to run a marathon right in my backyard at the Pittsburgh Marathon. Since running in 2014 wasn’t an option (no hard feelings, Marissa Moore), I’ve had my eyes set on the May 2015 race for some time now.
At the same time, I had also been thinking about doing a fundraiser as part of my running. After all, why should I be the only one getting anything out of it?
So, as a convergence of two interests, I have decided to run the 2015 Pittsburgh Marathon for the Mario Lemieux Foundation.
The Mario Lemieux Foundation raises money for both cancer research and improving the hospital experience for children (see Austin’s Playroom). Having lost my mother to cancer and needing the playroom for one of my children several years ago, it was an honor to sign up to do the marathon in order to raise money on their behalf.
If you are interested in contributing to my efforts to raise money for the Mario Lemieux Foundation, please check out:
I’d be more than honored if you would help me contribute money to this great cause, and cheer me on for another 26.2 miles on May 3, 2015!
Thank you in advance!
