Gonna take another step back to my college days with this week’s Midweek Music Break. Fuel hit it big in 1998 with their release of Sunburn, which vaulted them into the public eye, but it was the 2000 Something Like Human album that brought us “Bad Day”.
This song hits the wheelhouse for the relationships (and lack thereof) of my young life: love, loss, longing, disappointment, frustration, and wondering what I was doing wrong. Ok, you can chalk a lot of that to being an overly-emotional late teenager….
Regardless, this song captured so many of the feelings and passion that I had. The vocals on the song are amazing, even when they aren’t words. The accompanying music is solid, with a decent guitar solo, but Brett Scallions still steals the show.
Plus, sometimes it’s just nice to be reminded on our bad days, that other people have them too. Eventually, you pick up and move on, as there are almost always brighter days ahead…
